Privacy Policy — The Final State

Effective 2026-08-06. Applies to The Final State on web and on Android (Google Play).

This policy covers only The Final State, a game made by Out of the Box Systems. It does not cover the rest of obox.systems — that site has its own privacy policy for contact-form and business inquiries, which is unrelated to this game.

Short version

The game collects no personal information. It has no accounts, no login, and nothing you type or upload. If you allow it, it sends anonymous, aggregate gameplay statistics — things like how long a match took and who won — to help balance the game. You can decline, and the game plays identically either way.

What we collect

When you first open the game, a banner asks whether to allow anonymous gameplay statistics. Nothing described below is sent unless you choose Allow. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site/app data, which resets the choice.

DataWhat it isWhy
Anonymous player ID A random ID generated on your device and stored locally. It is not derived from any device or account identifier and cannot be used to identify you. Lets us tell repeat sessions from a first-time player, without knowing who either one is.
Match events Game started / finished / abandoned, and a "rematch" click. Basic engagement metrics (how many matches are played, finished, or dropped).
Match statistics Map chosen, number of players, round count, match duration, who won, and a per-round snapshot of each player's regions / units / gold. No chat, text, images, or any player-entered content exists in the game, so none is collected. Balance tuning — e.g. checking that the human player wins roughly as often as the AI, and that matches aren't dragging on too long.
App version The build tag of the game you're running. Comparing metrics across releases.

We do not collect: your name, email, location, contacts, photos, files, precise or coarse location, advertising identifiers, IMEI/MAC/device hardware identifiers, or anything typed into the game (there is nothing to type).

Who processes it

Gameplay statistics, when allowed, are sent to PostHog, an analytics service that acts as our data processor. PostHog does not use this data for its own purposes, does not receive anything that identifies you, and the data never touches an advertising network.

PostHog processes this data on servers located in the United States, so if you're playing from elsewhere, your anonymous gameplay statistics are transferred there for processing. PostHog publishes a Data Processing Agreement covering how it handles personal data on behalf of customers like us (posthog.com/dpa). We don't currently set a fixed deletion schedule for this data — it's retained for as long as our analytics project with PostHog stays active.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over data processed about you — for example, to access, correct, restrict, or object to its processing, or to receive a copy of it. Because what we collect is anonymous and not linked to any identity we hold, we generally can't act on a request to access or delete "your" specific data beyond what's described above. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have not been respected.

Children

On Google Play, this game's declared target audience is age 13 and up — it is not directed at children under 13. In any case, no personal information is collected from any player, so this holds true regardless of a player's age.

Changes

If what's collected changes, this page will be updated and the date above will change with it.
